geeky confession- nothing makes me happier than a good exfoliating shower session! I love getting out of the shower feeling squeaky clean and ready to take on the day.
I’ve been meaning to make some more grown up soaps (you might remember my novelty ones) so I decided to make some body scrub bars.
they’re crazy easy to make, not to mention fun. I opted for a lemon and pepper combo- I chose lemon for it’s zesty freshness and peppercorns to exfoliate. I’ve also thrown in some coconut oil to nourish and soften the skin…
to make 8-10 bars you’ll need:
coconut oil
white melt and pour soap base
silicone soap mould
black peppercorns
2 lemons
to start I grated the zest from 2 lemons. I left my peppercorns whole as I like my body scrubs to be quite vigorous (but smaller crushed pieces are good if you want a more gentle scrub.)
cut slices from your melt and pour soap base to melt in the microwave (I cut what I estimate to be enough for 2 bars of soap each time) and heat for 20-30 seconds.
keep heating until the white soap base has melted, be careful not to overheat it. I melt mine in an old takeaway container which can be thrown out so no washing up later on! once the base is liquid you can add in your peppercorns, coconut oil and lemon zest.
I didn’t really measure how much I added to mine- I started small and added until I was happy with how the mixture looked. I think I added roughly 1 teaspoon of coconut oil to every 2 bars.
then pour into your silicone mould and leave to set.
once solid pop them out of the moulds and you’re ready to scrub.
I only intended to make 3 bars but I got carried away and ended up with 10 (on the upside I now have a stash of scrub bars to share with my friends and family!)
